This beautiful true color view of Earth is from the Advanced Baseline Imager on NOAA's GOES-16 satellite. On March 1st, the satellite that will become GOES-17 (it's called GOES-S while it's on the ground) is scheduled to be launched. GOES-17 will be positioned to the west of GOES-16 and extend the coverage we have of this high resolution view of Earth.
