For our final Wood County ghost town #TBT, we paid a visit to one of our county’s most well known ghost towns: Galatea. Located near present day North Baltimore, Galatea was surveyed in 1886. Thanks to the Wood County oil boom, Galatea, originally called Welker, was able to flourish! The Manhattan Oil Refinery employed 600 men and even built small homes nearby for these employees.
