A strengthening storm brewing near the Bahamas could bring flooding rain, coastal surge, damaging winds and dangerous surf to the Southeast.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday as a devastating Category 5 storm, tied for the strongest landfalling Atlantic hurricane in history.

It is expected to slice diagonally across the island, entering near St. Elizabeth parish in the south and exiting around St. Ann parish in the north, before heading for Cuba.
